Can I claim my session back?

If you have a health cash plan in the UK or health insurance in Ireland, some sessions may be claimable. Your plan decides what it pays back, so check your policy.

Which sessions get a claim receipt

We email you one when:

  • the session is a therapy health plans often cover, such as counselling, psychotherapy or CBT, and
  • your practitioner belongs to a professional body that plans accept and has added their membership number.

What you get

About an hour after your session, we email you a “Receipt – paid in full”. It’s in English, as UK and Irish plans ask. It shows your practitioner’s professional body and membership number, the therapy, the session date and what you paid. The Sissoo booking fee is on its own line, apart from the session price.

How to claim

  1. Open your receipt from the email. If it asks for your address, add it once: most plans need it.
  2. Save it as a PDF, or take a photo of it.
  3. Upload it in your plan’s app or website. The email links to some plans’ claim pages.

We send you one reminder later, in case you haven’t claimed yet.

Check your policy before you book

Plans differ. Check:

  • that it covers the therapy, and how many sessions a year,
  • that online sessions count,
  • whether your practitioner may be in another country,
  • the time limit for claims, often 13 weeks to 12 months after the session.
