There are no good studies of lymphatic drainage for stress, relaxation or other everyday needs yet.

What a session is

A very gentle massage using light, slow, rhythmic strokes, developed to encourage the flow of lymph, the clear fluid in your body's tissues. On Sissoo it is offered as a relaxing, light-touch session.

What the research says

  • Stress and worry: Not studied for lymphatic drainage. Studies of massage in general suggest it may ease anxiety, but bigger studies are needed. No good evidence yet · NCCIH, 2024
  • Sleep, low mood, back pain, menopause and grief: Not studied for lymphatic drainage in the sources we use. No good evidence yet

More on each need: Handle stress better · Sleep better

Is it safe?

Lymphatic drainage uses very light pressure, and massage is generally low risk. See a doctor first about any new or unexplained swelling, especially swelling in one leg. Don't use massage to put off seeing a doctor about a health problem. NCCIH, 2019 · NHS, 2026

Sessions on Sissoo complement medical care and never replace it. Please don’t stop or change any treatment without talking to your doctor.
