Existential/Phenomenological Therapy
Existential therapy is a talking therapy that explores life’s big questions, such as meaning, choice, freedom and loss, alongside everyday problems. The therapist works with you as an equal to look at your values and assumptions, so you can make choices that feel right for you. It is also called phenomenological therapy because it focuses on your own lived experience. There is limited evidence that it may help people feel life has more meaning, and for low mood and worry: see “Existential therapy: what the research says”.
