Gestalt Therapy
Gestalt therapy is a talking therapy that looks at your whole experience in the here and now: your thoughts, feelings, body and actions. The therapist may suggest creative experiments, such as role-play, to help you become more aware of yourself. It was developed in the 1940s by Fritz and Laura Perls; ‘Gestalt’ is German for ‘whole’ or ‘form’. There are few good studies of Gestalt therapy itself, so the evidence for low mood is limited: see “Gestalt therapy: what the research says”.
