Hatha Yoga

Traditionally, Hatha yoga is a term used for any type of yoga that pairs poses (asanas) with breathing techniques (pranayama) and often integrates meditation into the practise. Many of the well-known popular yoga styles (like Ashtanga, Restorative, Vinyasa and Iyengar) fall under the umbrella of Hatha. The term 'hatha' has also evolved to describe a type of yoga class that's generally slower paced with focus on ensuring healthy physical alignment. Your Hatha teacher will take particular time to carefully guide you on how to do each pose. You can expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition and ease of movement. Hatha Yoga promotes strength and flexibility.
