No reliable studies show Biofield Tuning helps any health problem. One small study had no comparison group. Some people find it restful.
What a session is
A practitioner strikes tuning forks and moves them slowly around your body, in person or at a distance online. Practitioners believe the sound finds and smooths 'disturbances' in an energy field around you; science has not shown this field exists.
What the research says
- Worry, anxiety and stress: No reliable studies yet. In one small study, 15 people felt less anxious, but there was no comparison group and the founder helped run it. No good evidence yet · Complementary Therapies in Medicine, 2023 · Spanish Ministry of Health, 2019
- Finding where you hold tension: Not shown to work. In one small test, three practitioners mostly disagreed on where they sensed 'disturbances' around the same people. No good evidence yet · Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, 2020
- Low mood, back and neck pain, sleep, menopause and grief: Not studied in the sources we use. No good evidence yet
More on each need: Feel calmer · Handle stress better · Lift your mood · A relaxed body · Sleep better · Menopause wellbeing · Grief and loss
Is it safe?
No study has checked its safety, though similar energy methods such as Reiki have not been shown to cause harm. Use it alongside, never instead of, care from your doctor, and don't let it delay seeing one. NCCIH, 2018
Sessions on Sissoo complement medical care and never replace it. Please don’t stop or change any treatment without talking to your doctor. If you feel very low or think about ending your life, call your local emergency number now.
Checked 22 October 2026. Next check by April 2027. How we rate the evidence.
